It’s not the shape or the size of the latest Volkswagen show car that makes the memory chip inside your head go from standby to high alert. It is the color that does the trick, an unusual shade of metallic color called, past and present, viper green. If you’re old enough, this hue triggers an instant flashback to the rocking 1970s. In 1974, when the first-generation Scirocco debuted, the world witnessed the end of the Nixon era and the ending of the hippie movement.

Authentic information about the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco is starting to come to light and AutoExpress seems to be leading the charge. The Concept S, as it is called in show-going form, will debut in Paris this year and will bear the closest resemblance to what will be displayed in showrooms in 2008.
The newly developed platform will underpin the upcoming versions of the Golf Mark VI, although in the Scirocco application, suspension and ride characteristics will be more geared towards tarmac sticking versus commuter loafing.
