Acura TL Gets Type-S Treatment
September 17th, 2006
It’s been 3 years since the Acura division produced any cars that carried the Type-S badge. That wait is all but over now, as Acura will be re-introducing the Type-S into the 2007 TL line up. Previous generations of the Type-S line included the TL and CL. This time around only the TL is in production, but you have a choice of a 6 speed manual gearbox or a 5 speed automatic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters when you check the option box for Type-S. Power comes from a 3.5L V6 that makes 286 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque. The base TL comes with a 3.2L V6 that will propel the car to 60MPH (from a stop) in the low-7 second range.
European Honda Civic 3-Door Type S

The Civic 3-Door is now official, thanks to Honda UK. Sharply styled, the Civic 3-Door Type S gets 140 horsepower underhood courtesy of either a 1.8L i-VTEC four or a 2.2L diesel. Both engines come with a six-speed manual as standard equipment. Buyers of the gasoline-engined car will be able to select the i-SHIFT automated manual gearbox as an option.
The interior features Honda’s Dual Link dash, and alacantra seating, aluminum pedals, and a leather-wrapped wheel communicate the car’s sporty nature. Interior carrying capacity is identical to that of the Civic 5-door when the fold-flat rear seats are down.
