The sleek, eye-catching sport convertibles have managed to reinvigorate two GM brands as Detroit strains to avoid ruining the business. Vlachakis is at the front of a small, but increasingly influential pack of smart, young designers that Detroit counts on to make it relevant to an under-40 crowd that doesn’t much care for American vehicles and has almost no loyalty to the home team.


Humvee Army Vehicles

HumveeThe M998, M998A1, M1038 and M1038A1 Humvee’s are cargo/troop carrier configurations of the HMMWV family. These used army vehicles are most commonly used to transport equipment, materials, or personnel. The cargo carrier configuration is capable of transporting a payload (including crew) of 2,500 pounds and the troop carrier is capable of transporting a two man crew and eight passengers.

Both use a troop seat kit for troop transport operations. The cargo/troop carrier can also be configured in a four man crew configuration. The vehicles can climb 60% slopes and traverse a side slope of up to 40% fully loaded. The vehicles can ford hard bottom water crossing up to 30 inches without a deep water fording kit and up to 60 inches with the kit.

At the Geneva Motor Show, where hundreds of cars, big and fast, small and slow, were on display, the concept of going green is taking root in ways that automakers hope will not only create less pollution, but also bring in more purchases then before.
