The German automaker, Mercedes-Benz, has received several awards of excellence from various places. The honors include:
The world gave Mercedes-Benz’s new S-Class a thumbs-up after it snatched four prestigious international awards - “Golden Steering Wheel”, “Limousine of the Year”, “Best Luxury Car”, and “EuroCarBody Award 2005″.
The S-Class was awarded “Golden Steering Wheel” by Bild am Sonntag, Germany’s highest circulation Sunday newspaper. Judges included racing drivers Hans Hermann and Walter Rohrl, and television presenter Barbara Schoneberger.
Also celebrated with “Limousine of the Year” award by BBC’s Top Gear magazine, its space and comfort were lauded, citing research that showed that for a 500-kilometre route, S-Class drivers were found six per cent more relaxed - with heart beating five BPM slower - than drivers of competitors’ vehicles.
According to David Motton, editor of UK’s What Car? Magazine, which awarded the S-Class “Best Luxury Car”, “when Mercedes-Benz launches a new S-Class, the rest of the world gasps in amazement”.
The S-Class was also bestowed the coveted title of “EuroCarBody Award 2005″ by industry group Automotive Circle International (ACI) for one of its unprecedented innovations, the S-Class car body.
