Mazda Announces MX-5 Roadster Coupe Pricing
Monday, August 14th, 2006
This November residents of the U.K. will be able to get their hands on a Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe starting at £18,210, about £1,200 more than the soft-top. Though that price is only for the few hundred models destined for Britain, if exchange rates are to be trusted then customers in the U.S. should expect a premium of around $2,275 for an MX-5 with a hard candy shell. In addition to the world’s fastest retracting fiberglass hardtop (at 12 seconds), the price includes climate control air conditioning, the Option Pack and standard alloy wheels.
The MX-5 Roadster Coupe line will also include two available engines, a 1.8-liter and the 2.0-liter. A top-of-the-line Roadster Coupe 2.0i Sport with a BOSE sound system will go for £21,265. Curious, we checked on Mazda’s U.S. site and discovered this quote about the MX-5 Power Retractable Hard Top (the vehicle’s name Stateside): “And, best of all it continues the MX-5 Miata tradition of exceptional value with a starting price of under $25,000.”
All Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupes currently available on the pre-order website feature two chamber side airbags for the head and torso as standard, integrated into the seatback sides.
