2008 HPA Volkswagen R32

November 17th, 2006

2008 HPA Volkswagon R32Although the new R32 doesn’t hit American shores until 2008, ace VW tuner HPA Motorsports has already imported a Euro-spec R32 as a development mule for its upcoming line of turbocharged R32 tuner packages that feature single-turbo FT400 and FT460, and twin-turbo FT525 and FT575. We visited HPA’s Canadian shop for a look at a FT575 package ($38,500) that includes upgrades for power, suspension, brakes, and even unique body fascias.

The FT575 modification starts by lowering the compression of the stock 3.2-liter via a head-plate system along with installing heavy-duty engine bearings. HPA bolts in twin Garrett ball-bearing turbochargers for a stout 19-psi boost through custom inlet piping, twin intercoolers, and an HPA cast-aluminum intake manifold.

New Volkswagen Touareg

September 21st, 2006

Volkswagen TouaregVolkswagen has revealed the new Touareg, which receives updates to both the front and rear fascias, as well as an interior refresh that includes new seats and a new high-zoot sound system.

Up front, the Touareg adopts the current VW corporate look, getting Eos-style headlights and the chrome grille that’s now trickling across the entire model range. The intakes in the corners of the bumper are now bissected by metallic strips, which add a nice bit of extra flash. Round foglights are integrated in the lower part of the bumper, and the hood and front fenders are also new for 2007. In back, the taillights, bumper, rear spoiler and exhaust have all been revised.

Volkswagen Scirocco

August 17th, 2006

Volkswagen SciroccoAuthentic information about the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco is starting to come to light and AutoExpress seems to be leading the charge. The Concept S, as it is called in show-going form, will debut in Paris this year and will bear the closest resemblance to what will be displayed in showrooms in 2008.

The newly developed platform will underpin the upcoming versions of the Golf Mark VI, although in the Scirocco application, suspension and ride characteristics will be more geared towards tarmac sticking versus commuter loafing.
