Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

2006 Buick LucerneBuick is introduce an all-new sedan last fall. The 2006 Buick Lucerne is designed to bring a fresh approach to traditional Buick brand attributes: elegance, comfort, and driver-friendly technology.

The Lucerne replaces the LeSabre, but shares nothing in common with the older model. While Cadillac is moving toward rear-wheel drive and Ford is moving toward all-wheel drive, the new Lucerne will be front-wheel drive.

The Lucerne will be the first Buick in a decade to offer a V8, however. Two engines will be available, including the optional 4.6-liter V8 that makes 275 horsepower. The standard 3.8-liter, 195-horsepower V6 is EPA rated to deliver 25.3 mpg combined fuel economy. Four-wheel disc brakes and automatic transmissions will be standard.

The Lucerne will become Buick’s most popular car and may account for 75 percent of the brand’s sales. It’s designed to offer reliability and comfort with style and sophistication. It will come in three trim levels and can be ordered with five- or six-passenger seating.
